Remember When
Remember when you were little, all the excitement, the joy, and the endless flow of the day? Days that felt like lifetimes, filled to the brim with the sense of wonder? Remember the ever-present warm fuzzy feeling, and the anticipation of wonderful things that were waiting to happen to you? You were in a state of natural prayer more often than you know. And the circumstances of your life reflected your happy states of mind, for a while. Soon the world around you began to teach you what to expect, what to think, and what to feel. And how to pray. Those formulas, those words you didn’t really understand, the implied intimidating distance to God, did very little to help you form an intimate relationship with the Source of all life. But somehow you hoped that He could hear you.
Remember how in your early childhood you lived and breathed in a joyous expectation of that special gift or a trip that had been promised to you? Think how much more trustworthy our Heavenly Parent must be. He created us, he sustains us, and He can make us whole again. God keeps all His promises. Try to remember and recapture that warm fuzzy feeling that you carried around in your little heart. Be like a child again and doubt not. Return to prayer. You owe it to your soul.
